Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha expressed his enthusiasm and appreciation for the recent initiatives taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which he believes will significantly benefit farmers not only in Tripura but across the entire nation. In a virtual mode, the Chief Minister listened to PM Modi’s speech during the inauguration and foundation stone laying ceremony of development works in Rajasthan, where the Prime Minister made key announcements related to the agriculture sector.
One of the major announcements made by PM Modi was the release of the 14th installment of approximately Rs. 17,000 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme. This financial aid is aimed at providing direct income support to farmers and enhancing their financial stability. The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of such initiatives in uplifting the agricultural community and ensuring their well-being.
Additionally, PM Modi dedicated over 1.25 lakh PM Kisan Samriddhi Kendras (PMKSKs) to the nation. These centers are intended to serve as hubs for various agricultural services, providing farmers with access to crucial resources and facilities that can boost productivity and efficiency. The dedication of these centers is expected to empower farmers with the necessary tools and knowledge to thrive in their agricultural pursuits.
Moreover, the Prime Minister launched the on-boarding of 1600 Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) on the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC). This move is set to revolutionize the way farmers interact with the market, enabling them to directly connect with buyers and access fair prices for their produce. The adoption of digital commerce platforms is anticipated to enhance transparency, reduce intermediaries, and ultimately increase farmers’ incomes.
Chief Minister Manik Saha highlighted that these remarkable initiatives introduced by the central government will have a profound impact on farmers, not only in Tripura but also across the nation. The financial support under PM-KISAN will provide much-needed relief to farmers, especially during challenging times, and bolster their livelihoods.
Furthermore, the establishment of PMKSKs will ensure that farmers have access to essential services, technology, and information that can improve agricultural practices and yields. These centers will serve as hubs of knowledge dissemination, further empowering farmers to make informed decisions about their agricultural activities.
The launch of FPOs on the ONDC platform signifies a paradigm shift in the agriculture marketing system. With direct access to markets and buyers, farmers can bypass traditional middlemen and secure better prices for their produce, ultimately leading to increased profitability and economic growth.
The Chief Minister expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking these pro-farmer initiatives and acknowledged the transformative potential they hold for the agricultural community. He assured that the Tripura government will fully support the implementation of these schemes to ensure that farmers in the state receive the maximum benefits.
The recent announcements made by Prime Minister Modi are expected to bring about a positive transformation in the agricultural landscape of the country. The comprehensive approach to supporting farmers through financial aid, the establishment of PMKSKs, and the integration of FPOs into the digital commerce network reflects the government’s commitment to the welfare and prosperity of the farming community. Chief Minister Manik Saha’s endorsement of these initiatives further underscores the significance of these measures in improving the lives of farmers and propelling agricultural growth in India.
