Joint Forces Execute Operation Efficiently
The operation was led by Officer-in-Charge Bijay Das of Bishalgarh Police Station. Teams systematically cleared all identified plantation plots. The authorities reported that plantation owners did not resist, although many pleaded with the security forces to spare their crops.
Owners explained they cultivated Ganja to fund daughters’ weddings or afford costly medical treatments. They expressed fear that losing their crops would leave them destitute. However, the police and allied forces carried out the destruction without delay, emphasizing that cannabis cultivation is a criminal offence.
OC Bijay Das Speaks on Enforcement Strategy
OC Bijay Das told media that the drive will continue throughout the subdivision to eliminate illegal narcotics cultivation. He stated that authorities aim to maintain law and order and protect communities from the dangers of drug-related activities.
Additionally, Das noted that such operations require strong coordination among multiple agencies. The involvement of TSR, CRPF, and forest officials ensured both efficiency and safety during the operation.
Authorities Plan Continuous Surveillance
Officials confirmed that they have increased surveillance across remote villages where illegal Ganja cultivation has historically persisted. Furthermore, they stressed the importance of community awareness and warned villagers against participating in illegal activities.
Authorities also highlighted the need to offer alternative livelihoods for families dependent on illegal crops. This approach aims to reduce the risk of communities resorting to cannabis cultivation due to financial necessity.
Operation Sends a Strong Message
The successful eradication of 3 lakh cannabis plants is expected to deter future cultivation in Bishalgarh and nearby areas. Consequently, the police emphasized that enforcement will continue until illegal Ganja cultivation is fully eradicated.
Meanwhile, security agencies hope that the combination of strict enforcement, surveillance, and community engagement will ensure long-term compliance with the law. Local residents have largely supported the operation, acknowledging its role in reducing crime and drug-related issues.
In contrast to previous operations, which faced delays due to resistance or logistical issues, this operation proceeded smoothly, showcasing improved planning and inter-agency coordination.
