Kailasahar is witnessing rising political tension following alleged death threats issued against Arup Dhar, president of the BJP’s youth wing, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM). The BJP leadership in the subdivision has filed a formal complaint with the police and demanded security protection for Dhar and his family.

According to local sources, the controversy began on September 11 during a twelve-hour bandh called by the Congress in Kailasahar. During the protest, several bandh supporters allegedly shouted provocative slogans targeting Arup Dhar and even threatened to kill him. The situation worsened in the following days, with more threats reportedly made in person and through social media posts.

On Friday night, Dhar, along with BJP Unakoti district president Bimal Kar, party spokesperson Debasish Sen, general secretary Arun Saha, and other workers, approached the Kailasahar police station to lodge an FIR. The complaint named three Congress members as responsible for issuing the threats. Dhar has urged the police to arrest those named in the FIR and ensure the safety of his family.

Speaking on the matter, BJP spokesperson Debasish Sen accused Congress workers of orchestrating a systematic campaign of intimidation. “If such personal threats are made under the guise of political agitation, it is a direct violation of the rule of law. We urge the police to take swift action and bring the culprits to justice,” he said.

The incident has triggered widespread concern and heightened tensions across Kailasahar subdivision. Local political circles are closely watching how the situation unfolds, as both parties brace for a possible escalation in the conflict.
