Tripura royal scion and political leader Pradyot Manikya Debbarma has raised alarm over the growing climate of fundamentalism and intolerance in Bangladesh, accusing the interim government of failing to protect minority rights and uphold secular values.
Speaking at a press conference in Agartala on Saturday, Debbarma expressed deep concern over recent attacks on minority communities, including the vandalism of Rabindranath Tagore’s ancestral home in Shahjadpur. He stressed that such incidents were not isolated but part of a worrying trend fueled by radical forces.
“Fundamentalism and intolerance have become rampant in Bangladesh. The government needs to act decisively to preserve its founding values of pluralism,” Debbarma said.
