Tipra royal scion Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma has announced that he will be present at Jantar Mantar, Delhi, on September 9 to express solidarity with activist David Murasing in the ongoing movement over constitutional rights.
Making the announcement, Pradyot clarified that his participation will be as an individual and community member, not in his capacity as the founder of Tipra Motha. “On the 9th of September, I will be at Jantar Mantar, Delhi, to show our solidarity with Devid Murasing on the issue of our constitutional rights. I will go as Pradyot Manikya and not as Tipra Motha founder. Political parties cannot be bigger than my people,” he stated.
His remarks highlight the larger significance of the protest, which he framed as a people’s struggle beyond party politics. By distancing his presence from political affiliations, Pradyot underlined that the movement is rooted in safeguarding the rights and dignity of indigenous communities.
Observers believe his presence at Jantar Mantar will give additional momentum to the demonstration and could draw wider attention in national circles towards the constitutional demands being raised from Tripura.
