President Draupadi Murmu dances with members of a local dance troupe in Sikkim. He was accompanied by the wife of Sikkim Chief Minister Krishna Rai. She participated in a program organized by members of a local dance troupe in Gangtok. During this he also danced.

Earlier during her two-day visit to Mizoram, President Draupadi Murmu said the tribal-dominated state contributes and benefits from the country’s effort to connect with neighbors in the region.

He said that Mizoram can learn from its best governance practices of the pre-modern period. One can adopt them in the existing system for the betterment of the people. Murmu said that the state has performed well on all parameters despite the challenges posed by the hill state’s geographical location. After achieving full statehood in 1987, Mizoram did not look back.

President Draupadi Murmu said that the government is committed to the development of the North-East region. He described all the states of the North-East region as the ‘Ashratna’ of India. Laying the foundation stone and inaugurating various state and centrally sponsored schemes online in the eastern and southern districts of Sikkim, Murmu said that the Government of India has taken up infrastructure sector projects to enhance connectivity, education and agriculture sectors among the northeastern states.
