A security lapse was reported during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the Matabari temple complex in Udaipur after videos surfaced showing local MLA Abhishek Debroy crossing barricades with a crowd near the temple premises.

Barricades had been placed at two entry points with bamboo fencing along the roadside, but a large group of people managed to push through. Eyewitnesses confirmed that MLA Debroy was seen confronting police personnel as they tried to control the crowd.

Sources said close to 10,000 people gathered in the area, with police preventing entry for most of them. Later, around 3,000 people were allowed to stand inside bamboo barricades near the highway, about 30 metres from the temple.

Prime Minister Modi inaugurated a ₹51 crore redevelopment project of the 500-year-old temple and offered prayers during his visit. He arrived in Agartala by Air Force aircraft and then flew to Udaipur by helicopter. The visit concluded without further incident.

No official statement has been released by the Tripura government regarding the reported breach.
