The Tipra Motha is about to organize a “mega rally” at Vivekananda Ground on Saturday to press for its demand for “Grand Tipraland”, a senior party leader said.
Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, founder and chairman of the regional party, will address the meeting, in addition to its chairman Bijoy Kumar Hrangkhawl, said the leader.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Debbarma said the indigenous peoples of Tripura would like to remind the “people of Delhi” of their longstanding demand.
Tiprasa people will gather in large numbers at Vivekananda Ground to apprise Delhi people of their constitutional demands. There will be no procession or slogan-raising in Agartala, just a mass gathering,” he said.
The royal scion continued, “Delhi will have to pay heed and embrace our voice.
Tipraha Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance (TIPRA) Motha, launched in 2021, is seeking a distinct state of Greater Tipraland for the Indigenous peoples of Tripura.
The party made astonishing electoral debuts last year when it won the Tripura Tribal Area Autonomous District Council elections, winning 16 of the 28 seats.
