The Tipra Motha Party (TMP) organized a massive protest rally in Mandwi on Thursday, demanding the unconditional release of Jitu Debbarma, who was recently arrested following what the party has described as a false First Information Report (FIR).

Hundreds of party workers and supporters took part in the rally, holding banners and flags as they marched through the streets. Demonstrators raised slogans against the alleged false case, urging authorities to drop all charges and release Debbarma immediately. The protest saw significant participation from local residents, reflecting widespread public support for the demand.

The rally was led by members of the Mandwi unit of the Tipra Motha Party, who emphasized that the arrest of Debbarma was unjust and politically motivated. Leaders reiterated that the party would continue peaceful democratic protests until justice is ensured.

Carrying a large banner with Debbarma’s photograph, protestors called upon the state government and law enforcement agencies to review the case. The party maintained that false cases and wrongful arrests would not deter them from raising their voice for the rights of the indigenous people of Tripura.

Addressing the gathering, local leaders condemned the misuse of law to suppress opposition voices. They further highlighted that any attempt to intimidate activists through arrests would only strengthen the unity and determination of the party.

The demonstration remained peaceful, with a strong turnout showcasing the growing influence of Tipra Motha Party in the region. Organizers concluded the rally by submitting their demand for immediate release to local authorities, warning that failure to address the issue could lead to larger statewide protests in the coming days.
