The delegation, led by Tripura TMC president Pijush Kanti Biswas, included key leaders who described the incident as part of a growing pattern of political intimidation.

DGP Assures Swift Action

During the meeting at the police headquarters, the DGP reportedly assured the delegation of immediate investigation and fair action.
He emphasized that the police would maintain a neutral stance and ensure protection for all political parties operating in the state.

“The DGP gave us his word that no one is above the law,” Biswas told reporters after the meeting.
He added that the TMC had submitted a written memorandum, urging the police to deploy additional personnel around party offices in sensitive areas.

The delegation also sought video surveillance and patrolling during nighttime hours to prevent further attacks.
TMC leaders said they are ready to cooperate with law enforcement agencies to identify the culprits and maintain peace.

Tensions Rise Ahead of Local Elections

The alleged attack has added to political tensions in Tripura, where multiple parties are preparing for upcoming village committee elections and other local polls.
The TMC, which has been expanding its base in the state since 2021, accused rival groups of trying to disrupt its organisational activities.

Party officials claimed that such incidents discourage grassroots workers from campaigning freely.
“This is not just an attack on our office—it’s an attack on democracy,” said Susmita Dev, a senior TMC leader and Rajya Sabha MP.
She stated that Tripura must not “return to a culture of fear and political violence.”

Dev urged the Election Commission and the Union Home Ministry to monitor the situation closely, ensuring that democratic participation remains free and fair.

Police Maintain Vigil

Meanwhile, the Tripura Police have intensified surveillance across political hotspots.
Officials said a team from West Agartala Police Station has been assigned to investigate the vandalism case.

Preliminary reports suggest that the incident took place late at night when the office was closed.
Police are examining CCTV footage from nearby areas and have assured that those responsible will be identified soon.

A senior officer said, “We are committed to maintaining law and order. The situation is under control, and adequate security has been deployed.”
Authorities have also urged all political parties to avoid inflammatory statements that could escalate tensions.

TMC’s Growing Presence in Tripura

Since its entry into Tripura politics in 2021, the Trinamool Congress has made steady progress in expanding its base across urban and rural constituencies.
The party has positioned itself as a third alternative to the ruling BJP and the Left-Congress alliance.

TMC leaders have been visiting different districts, launching membership drives, and engaging with youth and women’s groups.
The party’s leadership in Kolkata has repeatedly highlighted Tripura’s strategic political importance in the northeast.

TMC’s national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee has visited the state multiple times, promising to build a “fear-free democracy.” Therefore, party sees Tripura as a key state in its broader northeast expansion plan.

Political Reactions Across the State

The alleged attack drew mixed political reactions. Although, the BJP’s state leadership dismissed the TMC’s claims as an “attempt to gain publicity,” saying that the law-and-order situation remains stable.

A BJP spokesperson said, “Tripura is a peaceful state. The opposition is trying to create unnecessary controversy ahead of elections.”

However, opposition groups, including the Congress and Tipra Motha, expressed concern over the rise in political violence. Moreover, they urged the administration to treat such incidents seriously to maintain democratic fairness.

Civil society groups in Agartala also condemned the attack and called for restraint and dialogue among political rivals.

A Call for Peaceful Political Process

Following the meeting, the TMC delegation reiterated that it would continue to pursue democratic means. Strengthening its organisation in Tripura. Biswas said the party will not be “intimidated by such acts.” And will continue to reach out to people through peaceful campaigning.

The DGP assured that security arrangements would be enhanced for upcoming events and political activities. Also, Police have already begun coordination with district authorities to ensure peaceful conduct of political gatherings.

Tripura’s political landscape remains closely watched as the state prepares for village committee. And municipal elections in the coming months. Observers believe how the administration handles such incidents. And, will shape public perception of governance and political fairness.
