Residents of Khowai Subdivision are urged to stay on high alert as the water level in the Khowai River has risen above the danger mark. As of 7:00 PM today, the water level near the WR office in Khowai stands at 24.85 meters, significantly surpassing the danger level of 24.50 meters.
The road between Khowai and Teliamura is also reported to be waterlogged, making travel hazardous. Authorities advise all residents living near the riverbed to relocate to shelter houses tonight to ensure their safety.
According to the Water Resources Sub-Division in Khowai, the critical levels of the Khowai River are as follows:
- Expected Flood Level: 22.50 meters
- Warning Flood Level: 23.10 meters
- Critical Level: 24.00 meters
- Danger Level: 24.50 meters
- Extreme Danger Level: 25.00 meters
With the river currently at 24.85 meters, it is just 0.15 meters below the extreme danger level. The situation is being closely monitored, and further updates will be provided as they become available.
