Tripura has achieved another milestone in tribal development. The state secured first positions nationally for its outstanding execution of ‘Dharti Abha Jan Bhagidari Abhiyan’ and ‘PM Janman Prakalpa’.
Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma and Minister for Co-operatives Shukla Charan Noatia announced the news at the state secretariat on Saturday. President Droupadi Murmu handed over the awards during a ceremony at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on Friday.
Union Tribal Affairs Minister Joel Oram, Minister of State Durgadas Waghmare, senior officials, and several dignitaries attended the event. Dr. K. Shashi Kumar, Secretary of the Tribal Welfare Department, received the awards on behalf of Tripura.

Dharti Abha Jan Bhagidari Abhiyan: Tripura Sets a Benchmark
Minister Bikash Debbarma explained that the ‘Dharti Abha Jan Bhagidari Abhiyan’ began on June 15 to strengthen tribal empowerment.
Tripura led the country by involving indigenous people at every level. Officials and community leaders jointly organized 4,036 awareness camps, reaching thousands of families. As a result, the state emerged as the best performer nationwide.
“The achievement reflects our commitment to people’s participation and effective implementation,” said Debbarma. Moreover, he praised local efforts and inter-departmental teamwork for making the mission a success.
Therefore, other states now look to Tripura as a model for participatory governance.
PM Janman Prakalpa: Driving Growth in Tribal Areas
Tripura also excelled in executing the ‘PM Janman Prakalpa’, which improves housing, infrastructure, and basic amenities for tribal citizens.
According to the ministers, the state built 15,584 houses, while work continues on 1,632 more. In addition, it opened 141 new Anganwadi Centres and provided safe drinking water to 38,014 families.
The government supplied electricity to 11,692 households through the power grid and delivered solar connections to 1,051 families in remote villages. Furthermore, officials installed 10 new mobile towers to boost communication and launched 18 multipurpose centres, with 32 more under construction.
Infrastructure development also gained momentum. Engineers began work on 67 new roads covering 205 kilometres. Meanwhile, the state opened 30 ‘Bandhan’ Development Centres to promote skill training and entrepreneurship.
Consequently, these initiatives are transforming tribal communities and improving their quality of life.
Tripura’s Rise in Inclusive Development
Ministers Bikash Debbarma and Minister Shukla Charan Noatia said Tripura’s success proves that community-driven governance delivers real change. Moreover, they credited officials, field workers, and local residents for their teamwork.
“Tripura’s results show our clear vision for inclusive and sustainable growth,” they stated. Ultimately, the twin awards confirm Tripura’s leadership in tribal welfare and national development.
