The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tripura strongly rejected the allegations made by left parties regarding rising unemployment in the state. The party described these claims as baseless and politically motivated, aimed at misleading the public and undermining the state government’s achievements. Senior BJP leaders addressed the issue during a press conference held in Agartala on Tuesday. They stated that the government has taken consistent steps to generate employment and support youth through various welfare initiatives.
Chief Minister Manik Saha asserted that the left is trying to reignite old narratives to create confusion among the youth. He said that the state government has focused on both skill development and new job opportunities over the past few years. According to him, the administration has created a conducive environment for entrepreneurship and private sector growth, which is slowly reshaping Tripura’s employment landscape. The Chief Minister emphasized that youth in the state now have more opportunities in diverse sectors including IT, tourism, agriculture, and healthcare.
BJP State President Rajib Bhattacharya also lashed out at the opposition, accusing them of ignoring facts and using unemployment as a tool for political gain. He said that the government has recruited thousands of youths in various departments and also provided training and financial assistance to help self-employment flourish. He noted that the left, during their long tenure, failed to deliver on their own promises and left the state with a stagnant employment rate.
The BJP leadership pointed out that the central government has extended several schemes to Tripura with special focus on youth empowerment. They mentioned that the state has benefited from the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, which has helped train thousands of young people. They also highlighted that the government’s transparent recruitment processes have restored faith in public institutions.
Party leaders stated that while the left parties continue to criticize, they lack any concrete solutions or alternative policy suggestions. The BJP said that instead of engaging in constructive dialogue, the opposition has chosen to rely on propaganda. They emphasized that unemployment is a national issue, but in Tripura, the current government has worked hard to address it through strategic planning and regular monitoring.
In his interaction with the press, Minister for Industries and Commerce Santana Chakma said that the government has been pushing for industrial growth with investor-friendly policies. She added that job fairs, training centers, and start-up incubators have emerged as active platforms for youth employment. The government has also actively collaborated with industries to ensure job-linked skill training.
She further added that the opposition is deliberately ignoring the positive changes seen in urban and rural employment patterns. According to her, the government has enhanced employment generation under MGNREGA and other rural schemes, which has ensured a steady source of income for many families. She said that more than ever before, the state’s youth are being supported not only with education but with real work opportunities that match their skills.
Government spokespersons underlined that recruitment processes in departments like police, health, education, and public works have seen a significant rise in the past two years. They claimed that transparency and meritocracy have become the norm under the BJP-led administration, unlike in previous regimes where favoritism and political influence ruled appointments.
The BJP concluded that the opposition is desperately trying to stay relevant by creating false narratives. They said that people in Tripura are well aware of the government’s dedication to employment and development and would not be swayed by outdated rhetoric. As the BJP continues to focus on governance and delivery, it expressed confidence that the people will support it for its results-driven approach.
