Tripura Cabinet Approves Free Festival Ration, 1,282 Teaching Posts and TSSC

The Tripura Cabinet has approved several major decisions aimed at providing festival benefits, creating government jobs and strengthening public services across the state. The government will distribute free suji, maida and sugar to nearly 9.9 lakh ration card holders during October and November. In addition, the Cabinet approved the recruitment of 700 Secondary Graduate Teachers and 361 teachers for elementary education. It also cleared 213 posts under the Agartala Municipal Corporation and formed the Tripura Staff Selection Commission (TSSC). These decisions were announced by Cabinet spokesperson Sushanta Chowdhury on Wednesday, October 7.

Free Festival Ration for 9.9 Lakh Families

The Cabinet approved a special festival allocation for nearly 9.9 lakh ration card holders across Tripura.

Under the scheme, each ration card holder will receive 500 grams of suji, 1 kg of maida and 1 kg of sugar free of cost through fair price shops during October and November.

The government expects to distribute around 243 metric tonnes of suji, 1,984 metric tonnes of maida and 929 metric tonnes of sugar.

Overall, the special allocation will cost the state government around ₹9.35 crore. According to the Cabinet spokesperson, Tripura provides this festival allocation every year to all eligible ration card holders.

700 Secondary Graduate Teacher Posts Approved

The Cabinet also approved the creation and filling of 700 Secondary Graduate Teacher (STGT) posts on a fixed-pay basis.

These teachers will serve students in Classes IX and X under the Education Department. The decision could strengthen staffing levels in government secondary schools and create new employment opportunities for qualified candidates.

Meanwhile, the government also approved 361 teaching posts for elementary education.

These positions include 75 Graduate Teacher (GT) posts and 286 Under Graduate Teacher (UGT) posts.

213 Posts for Agartala Municipal Corporation

In another important decision, the Cabinet approved the creation and filling of 213 posts across different categories under the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC).

The move is expected to strengthen the workforce of the state’s urban civic administration. As a result, the recruitment could support the delivery of municipal services in Agartala.

Changes in Welfare Allowances

The Cabinet also approved an increase in the sitting allowance for members of sub-committees under the SC Welfare Department.

The allowance will rise from ₹100 to ₹200 per sitting. This change will provide higher compensation to members participating in official committee activities.

Similarly, the government approved an increase in the boarding stipend for students under the Minority Welfare Department.

The daily boarding stipend will increase from ₹65 to ₹100 per day, providing additional financial support to eligible boarding students.

Tripura Staff Selection Commission Approved

Another major decision involves the formation of the Tripura Staff Selection Commission (TSSC).

The new commission will conduct recruitment for Group B, Group C and Group D posts in the Tripura government. Therefore, the move could create a more organised recruitment mechanism for various state government positions.

The Cabinet also approved the filling of eight vacant Lower Division Clerk (LDC) posts under the Science and Technology Department.
