Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, along with several cabinet colleagues and senior BJP leaders, took part in a spirited ‘Tiranga Yatra’ in the state capital today, setting the tone for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations on August 15. The event drew a large crowd, with enthusiastic participation from indigenous communities and citizens of all age groups.
The procession, which began in the heart of Agartala, was led by Dr. Manik Saha and joined by key figures including Ministers Sudhangshu Das and Tinku Roy, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder, BJP spokesperson Subrata Chakraborty, and other senior party leaders. Waving the tricolour, the participants walked through the main thoroughfares, cheered on by bystanders lining both sides of the road. Despite temporary traffic congestion, the atmosphere remained charged with patriotic fervour.
According to officials, the state government has already rolled out an extensive schedule of programmes to make this year’s Independence Day memorable. These include the hoisting of the national flag in every household, government office, and educational institution across Tripura, in line with the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign.
The actual Independence Day celebrations will formally begin tomorrow with a series of cultural, social, and patriotic events taking place across the state. Government departments, local bodies, and community groups have been instructed to actively participate, ensuring widespread public involvement.
CM’s Door-to-Door Campaign in Bardowali
A day prior to the ‘Tiranga Yatra’, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha devoted time to his own constituency, Town Bardowali. In Ward No. 33, he personally distributed tricolour flags to households, going from door to door. He was accompanied by Ward corporators Abhijeet Mullick (Ward 33) and Jayanta Chowdhury (Ward 40), along with local BJP leaders from the Town Bardowali Mandal.
During his interaction with residents, Dr. Saha urged citizens to wholeheartedly participate in the Independence Day celebrations. He stressed that the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ initiative was not just about hoisting the national flag, but also about fostering a sense of unity, pride, and remembrance for the sacrifices made in India’s freedom struggle.
“Every home should proudly display the tricolour as a symbol of our shared heritage and the hard-earned freedom we enjoy today,” the Chief Minister said while addressing families in the locality.
Boosting Patriotism Across Tripura
The Tripura government’s campaign aims to ensure that Independence Day is celebrated with unprecedented enthusiasm this year. The ‘Tiranga Yatra’ in Agartala is expected to inspire similar processions and activities in other districts, bringing people together in the spirit of nationalism.
With the countdown to August 15 underway, the streets of Tripura are already draped in saffron, white, and green, reflecting the growing anticipation. From community gatherings to cultural programmes, the coming days promise a wave of patriotic fervour sweeping across the state.
