January 23, 2026  Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha honoured Major Soumyabrata Sengupta during an official Parakram Diwas programme in Agartala, recognising his work related to national integration efforts in the North Eastern region and his contribution to national-interest communication, with a particular focus on tribal communities.

According to officials present at the event, the recognition was extended for Major Sengupta’s sustained engagement across parts of the North East, where his work has focused on issues of unity, cultural representation, and inclusion of indigenous perspectives within the national discourse.

Parakram Diwas, observed to commemorate the legacy of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, is marked by the state to acknowledge contributions linked to courage, service, and national purpose. The Chief Minister noted that the occasion serves as a reminder of the importance of unity and shared identity, especially in regions with rich cultural diversity and strategic significance.

Major Soumyabrata Sengupta’s professional work has involved extensive engagement in geographically and culturally sensitive regions of the country. Officials noted that this field experience later led to his membership of the Royal Geographical Society, a professional body that recognises sustained engagement with geography-related work and research.

Speaking briefly after the programme, Major Sengupta expressed his appreciation for the recognition and stated that his work remained focused on strengthening cohesion, understanding, and constitutional values across communities.

The Parakram Diwas programme concluded with addresses highlighting national unity, cultural respect, and public service as continuing priorities for the state.
