Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Saturday inaugurated the newly renovated and beautified Parasundari Kali Temple at Ward No. 20 of Agartala Municipal Corporation, highlighting the importance of spirituality, culture, and heritage in people’s lives.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Saha said that true self-realization can be achieved through worship, and every individual must enrich their spiritual consciousness. He criticized the previous government for neglecting temples and denying the contributions of Tripura’s Maharajas in shaping the state’s development.
“The Parasundari Kali Temple, built during the royal period, was left in a dilapidated state due to years of neglect. Our government took the initiative to restore and renovate it, fulfilling the long-standing demand of local people. The earlier government did not believe in pujas or traditions, but after Prime Minister Narendra Modi came to power, there has been a spiritual awakening. Faith in God has grown, and Sanatan Dharma continues to protect India’s civilization,” Dr. Saha said.
The Chief Minister also recalled the vision of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur, who beautified Agartala and promoted urban development during his reign. He said the Maharajas made significant contributions in building markets, schools, and colleges, which should never be forgotten.
Dr. Saha further appealed to the people of Tripura to explore the state’s rich tourist centers instead of spending money on foreign travel. “India has many beautiful destinations, and so does Tripura. We must recognize and visit our own heritage sites,” he added.
The event was also attended by Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumdar, AMC Central Zone Chairman Ratna Dutta, Commissioner D.K. Chakma, and several other dignitaries.
