Tripura CM Manik Saha launches new healthcare projects
Tripura CM Manik Saha inaugurated several major projects at Agartala Government Medical College and Govind Ballabh Pant Hospital. These include a Critical Care Building, a Communicable Disease Centre, and a new 20-bed special ward. He also launched a telemedicine link that will connect doctors in Tripura with specialists across India.
The Chief Minister said that these projects will help reduce the need for patients to travel outside the state for advanced treatment. According to him, the government aims to make Tripura self-reliant in healthcare by providing modern medical services within the state.
He also introduced an Inter-Departmental Call Management System to improve hospital coordination. With better communication tools, doctors and staff can work faster and handle emergencies more effectively.
Tripura CM Manik Saha’s vision for AGMC’s growth
Tripura CM Manik Saha stated that his long-term goal is to transform AGMC into one of the top 10 medical colleges in India. He explained that the state has already developed nine super-specialty departments, such as cardiology, neurology, and nephrology, with an investment of about Rs 250 crore. Four more departments will open soon to further enhance patient care.
The Chief Minister said that improving AGMC is not only about infrastructure but also about academic quality. He stressed that a top medical college must combine strong education, research, and clinical excellence. His aim is to provide world-class training for students and create opportunities for them to learn advanced medical practices.
He also said that once AGMC reaches higher national standards, it will attract students and patients from other northeastern states. This will position Tripura as a regional center for quality healthcare and education.
Building trust in state healthcare services
Tripura CM Manik Saha emphasized the need to rebuild people’s trust in government hospitals. He urged doctors and hospital staff to serve patients with dedication and compassion. According to him, quality service and proper communication can restore public confidence in state-run facilities.
He pointed out that doctors in Tripura have already started performing complex surgeries, including hip and knee replacements. These achievements show that local hospitals now have the skill and equipment to handle advanced treatments. CM Saha said that such progress will encourage more people to seek care within the state instead of traveling elsewhere.
He also explained that technology plays a major role in this transformation. Telemedicine and digital monitoring systems are helping doctors make faster and better decisions. These innovations are improving both the speed and accuracy of medical services in Tripura.
Expanding medical infrastructure and education
Tripura CM Manik Saha announced several upcoming projects to continue the state’s healthcare development. A new Mother and Child Care Building is being built at AGMC and GBP Hospital with an investment of Rs 192 crore. The government also plans to expand Tripura Dental College with Rs 202 crore to create better classrooms, labs, and research spaces.
He said that these investments aim to make Tripura a leader in medical education in the Northeast. The government is also working to introduce new academic programs, strengthen research facilities, and modernize hospital equipment. The Chief Minister noted that all these initiatives are part of his larger plan to give residents access to better healthcare without leaving the state.
CM Saha added that the state government will focus on developing human resources in healthcare. Regular training programs, skill development workshops, and exposure to new technologies will ensure that medical staff stay updated with modern treatment methods.
Education and innovation as the key drivers
Tripura CM Manik Saha believes that research and innovation will play a major role in AGMC’s rise. He said that the college should focus on addressing regional health issues such as infectious diseases, nutrition, and child health. Solving local challenges through research will not only benefit Tripura but also help improve public health in the entire Northeast.
He also mentioned that collaboration with other national and global medical institutes will bring new opportunities for students and teachers. Through partnerships and exchange programs, AGMC can offer advanced medical exposure to its students and faculty members.
The Chief Minister said that the government is committed to creating a learning environment where innovation and practical skills are valued equally. By improving both teaching and infrastructure, AGMC can soon stand beside India’s top medical colleges.
A vision for a healthier Tripura
Tripura CM Manik Saha’s goal extends beyond AGMC. He envisions a strong and modern healthcare network across the state. Every district, he said, should have access to well-equipped hospitals, trained doctors, and efficient medical services. His government is taking steps to ensure that healthcare reaches rural and remote areas through mobile health units and teleconsultation facilities.
He also promised to continue investing in health awareness programs and preventive care. According to him, focusing on early diagnosis and healthy living can reduce the state’s disease burden.
The Chief Minister concluded by saying that with consistent efforts and teamwork, Tripura’s healthcare system will soon be among the best in the country. He expressed confidence that AGMC will achieve national recognition and become a model for other medical institutions in India.
Tripura CM Manik Saha’s vision to elevate AGMC to India’s top 10 medical colleges represents a bold and inspiring step for the state. His focus on education, infrastructure, and compassion-driven care is shaping a new era of healthcare in Tripura. As these projects take shape, Tripura is moving closer to becoming a self-reliant and healthier state for its people.
