Armed Gang Intercepts Family’s Vehicle
Fear has spread across the Bishalgarh-Murabari area after a group of armed miscreants allegedly intercepted a Scorpio vehicle on a deserted road early Saturday morning.
The vehicle was carrying members of a family from Ashabari in Boxanagar. They were returning home after attending to an urgent matter involving a relative. However, their journey took a violent turn when unidentified attackers allegedly began chasing their vehicle.
Driver Allegedly Abducted After Attack
According to the victims, a Bolero and several motorcycles pursued the Scorpio between 2:00 am and 2:30 am near Murabari under Bishalgarh.
Despite the driver’s efforts to escape, the gang allegedly blocked the vehicle. The assailants reportedly threatened the passengers with pistols and knives before forcing them into a nearby jungle.
The victims alleged that the attackers assaulted them and looted mobile phones, cash, and gold ornaments. Later, the gang released the women and children. However, they allegedly abducted the driver, identified as Dulal Miah, and took him away.
Victims Spend Night in Jungle
After the attackers left, the women and children reportedly remained hidden inside the jungle throughout the night.
At daybreak, they returned to the road and found the Scorpio vandalised. Soon after, local residents came to their assistance and informed the Bishalgarh Police about the incident.
Police Detain Two Suspects
Following the complaint, police registered a case and launched an investigation.
During the investigation, officers detained two youths, identified as Payel Alam and Jewel Miah, from Raghunathpur Railway Station. In addition, police seized two vehicles bearing registration numbers TR-07-F-0468 and TR-02-D-1770, which investigators suspect were used in the crime.
Police said further investigations are underway to trace the abducted driver, identify other members of the alleged gang, and establish the complete sequence of events.
