Agartala, Tripura – The Government of Tripura has issued an official memorandum ahead of the nationwide general strike scheduled for May 20, 2025. The strike has been called by the All India State Government Employees’ Federation to demand the regularization of all contractual workers and an end to contractual, outsourced, and daily-wage employment.

In response, the Tripura Employees’ Coordination Committee (H.B. Road) has encouraged state government employees and teachers to actively participate in the strike. However, the state administration has clearly instructed that all government offices, public sector undertakings, and affiliated institutions must remain fully operational on the day of the protest.

The official memorandum, signed by Debjani Deb Sarkar, Joint Secretary to the Government of Tripura, directs all Principal Secretaries, Special Secretaries, and Heads of Departments to ensure that employees under their authority report to work as usual. Attendance reports must be submitted to the General Administration (AR) Department by 12:00 noon on May 20.

The government has warned that any unauthorized absence will be treated seriously, emphasizing that no disruption in official functioning will be tolerated.

Copies of the memorandum have been circulated to key administrative authorities, including the Secretary to the Governor, Chief Secretary, Director General of Police, and all District Magistrates and Department Heads.

This preemptive step by the Tripura Government is aimed at maintaining normalcy and ensuring that essential government services remain uninterrupted during the nationwide strike.
