The Department of Tourism, Government of Tripura, has signed a strategic agreement with the Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) for the construction of the prestigious Taj Pushpabanta Palace Hotel. The signing ceremony took place today in the esteemed presence of the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Professor Dr. Manik Saha.
The Taj Pushpabanta Palace, which will be developed by IHCL under the iconic “Taj” brand, is expected to significantly elevate the state’s tourism profile and attract both domestic and international visitors. The hotel will be constructed on the historic Pushpabanta Palace premises, blending heritage with modern luxury.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha emphasized the importance of the project, stating, “This partnership is a proud moment for Tripura. The Taj brand brings global recognition and this initiative will strengthen tourism, boost our economy, and create new employment opportunities for our youth.”
The new hotel project is expected to generate numerous direct and indirect employment opportunities across hospitality, transportation, and local service sectors. Additionally, it is anticipated to boost ancillary industries such as handicrafts, handlooms, and local cuisine by attracting higher tourist footfall.
The Pushpabanta Palace, a symbol of royal Tripura heritage, will be restored and transformed into a luxury heritage destination, ensuring sustainable tourism development while preserving cultural legacy.
This initiative aligns with the Tripura government’s broader vision of transforming the state into a prime tourism hub in Northeast India through infrastructure development and public-private partnerships.
