Tripura Governor Attends Closing Ceremony of Kumarghat Football Tournament

The Hon’ble Governor of Tripura, Indrasena Reddy Nallu, attended the closing ceremony of the Kumarghat Football Tournament held at the PWD Ground in Kumarghat on Sunday. The presence of the Governor added significance to the event, which attracted sports enthusiasts and local residents from across the region.

In his address, Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu emphasized the efforts of the Central Government to promote and revive sports across India under the Khelo India programme. He highlighted that the initiative has already achieved success by encouraging youth participation in rural sports. The Governor noted that football holds a special place in Indian sports culture, particularly in the north-eastern states, where the game enjoys massive popularity and community support.

Speaking about the importance of sports, the Governor underlined that team games like football not only develop skills but also promote unity, discipline, and team spirit among players and society. He encouraged the youth of Tripura to actively engage in sporting activities and contribute to strengthening the culture of sports in the state.

The closing ceremony of the Kumarghat Football Tournament was attended by several distinguished dignitaries. Among them were MLA Bhagaban Das, Unakoti Zilla Saha-Sabhadipati Amalendu Das, Unakoti District Magistrate & Collector Dr. Tamal Majumdar, and Superintendent of Police Sudhambika R, along with other notable officials and community leaders. Their presence reflected the importance of the tournament for the local community and the role of sports in regional development.

The tournament, hosted at the Kumarghat PWD Ground, witnessed enthusiastic participation from local football teams and a large gathering of spectators. It served as a platform for nurturing young sporting talent while also fostering a spirit of togetherness and celebration within the community.
