The Government of Tripura has officially declared that all state government offices will remain closed from September 29 to October 4, 2025, in view of the upcoming Durga Puja festival. However, the administration has clarified that urgent and essential work will not be affected during the six-day festive holiday.

The announcement was made through a memorandum issued by the General Administration (SA) Department from the State Secretariat in Agartala. The circular emphasized that while offices will remain closed, departments must ensure that important files and urgent matters are attended to without delay.

To facilitate this, the government has instructed all Departments, Heads of Departments, and Heads of Offices to arrange for a skeleton staff during the holiday period. These staff members will attend office between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM on September 29, 30 and October 1, 2, 3, and 4, 2025. The arrangement is aimed at maintaining smooth functioning of essential services during the festive break.

The memorandum further noted that employees who are assigned duty during the Durga Puja holidays will be entitled to compensatory leave on later dates, in accordance with service rules, provided they submit an application.

Additionally, departments have been instructed to prepare and circulate a roster duty chart for the Durga Puja holidays. A copy of the same must be forwarded to the GA (SA) Department at the Secretariat via the official email: ga.sadeptt-tr@tripura.gov.in.

The order, signed by Asim Saha, Joint Secretary to the Government of Tripura, has been circulated to all key offices, including the Governor’s Secretariat, Chief Minister’s Office, Ministers, Chief Secretary, Principal Secretaries, and senior officials.

By implementing this roster duty system, the Tripura Government aims to balance the festive spirit with administrative responsibility. The arrangement ensures that while government employees can celebrate Durga Puja with their families, critical governance and public services continue without disruption.

Durga Puja, the biggest festival in Tripura and other parts of eastern India, witnesses massive public participation, community gatherings, and cultural events. With lakhs of people thronging pandals and marketplaces, the state machinery plays a vital role in maintaining law and order, health services, and emergency response systems. This decision by the government reflects its commitment to ensuring that public convenience and governance remain unaffected during the holiday period.
