Tripura Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy announced a major employment boost on Saturday, revealing that the state government has filled 17,500 government jobs across various departments. He said this move reflects the government’s firm commitment to reducing unemployment and enhancing public service delivery across the state. He also informed that the government will soon fill over 13,000 more permanent positions, further expanding opportunities for qualified youth.
The minister made the announcement during a press interaction in Agartala, where he highlighted the efforts taken by the government in streamlining the recruitment process. He said the recruitment drive marks one of the largest in recent times and shows the administration’s intention to empower Tripura’s youth through gainful employment. He asserted that the jobs span critical sectors, including education, health, administration, and public works, ensuring the development momentum reaches every corner of the state.
Roy underscored the transparent recruitment process and praised the Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC) and other recruiting agencies for their professionalism. He said that all recruitments had followed due procedure and that no candidate had received a job outside of merit. He noted that young people, especially from remote and rural areas, have found new hope as they enter the service sector through fair competition.
The minister also addressed concerns over the backlog of vacancies and acknowledged that delays in earlier years had created frustration among job aspirants. He said the current government has tackled this backlog aggressively and created a system where recruitments do not get stalled by bureaucratic red tape. He said that the state had earlier witnessed a pause in recruitment due to administrative bottlenecks, but the present government had broken that pattern by establishing faster clearances and timely examinations.
While discussing the sectors that received the highest number of appointments, Roy stated that the education department absorbed a large number of teachers, both graduate and postgraduate, to strengthen government-run schools. He added that healthcare received significant reinforcement as trained nurses, doctors, and paramedical staff were appointed to fill long-pending vacancies in district hospitals and rural health centers. He maintained that such a move not only improves service delivery but also reflects the government’s sensitivity toward essential sectors.
Roy also hinted at more upcoming opportunities for skilled and semi-skilled youth as the government prepares to launch various development schemes that will require additional manpower. He assured that the administration is mapping future human resource needs across departments to ensure job creation remains a continuous process. He noted that the finance department has made provisions to ensure timely disbursement of salaries and allowances for all new recruits, easing the financial burden on families and stimulating the state’s economy.
The minister also thanked Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha for his leadership and vision in prioritizing employment generation as part of Tripura’s long-term development agenda. He said the administration has not only focused on creating jobs but also aimed to maintain job quality, security, and dignity. He called the recruitment drive a turning point for the state’s youth, especially in light of rising aspirations and growing demand for professional stability.
Roy ended his remarks by inviting job aspirants to remain informed about upcoming notifications and prepare sincerely for the recruitment exams. He said that the government has placed great importance on accountability, fairness, and efficiency in recruitment. He assured the people that the upcoming 13,000 jobs would follow the same standards of transparency and meritocracy that had governed the earlier selections.
As Tripura continues its march toward inclusive growth, the large-scale recruitment drive has sent a strong message about the state’s developmental focus. For thousands of young residents, the opportunity to serve the state as government employees brings not only economic security but also a renewed sense of belonging and contribution.
