The Tripura High Court has issued a strong directive to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC). The court ordered the Council to clear all pending pension and post-retirement dues within three months. These dues include gratuity, leave encashment, GPF interest and other benefits. The court also instructed the administration to pay 7% annual interest for any delay.
Justice S Datta Purkayastha led the single-judge bench. He criticised the long delay in releasing pension benefits. The court said the law clearly requires the administration to settle dues immediately after retirement. Yet many former employees waited for years. Their repeated appeals brought no relief, which forced them to approach the High Court.
