Tripura observed the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya in Agartala on September 25. A state-level programme was organised at Muktadhara Auditorium by the Information and Cultural Affairs Department.
Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha attended the programme and paid floral tribute to Upadhyaya. Several public representatives and officials also joined the event. The programme focused on Upadhyaya’s ideas of Integral Humanism and Antyodaya.

State-Level Programme Held in Agartala
The programme began with dignitaries offering floral tributes to the portrait of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya. Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder, MLA Meena Rani Sarkar and ICA Director Bimbisar Bhattacharya were among those present.
Local corporators and other dignitaries also attended the programme. Meanwhile, similar observances were held at different places across Tripura.
The event provided an opportunity to recall Upadhyaya’s contribution to Indian social and political thought. Speakers also discussed his views on society, development and the welfare of disadvantaged sections.
CM Manik Saha Highlights Integral Humanism
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Manik Saha highlighted Upadhyaya’s philosophy of Integral Humanism, or ‘Ekatma Manavtavad’. He said the philosophy remains relevant to the development of society.
According to Saha, Upadhyaya’s ideas placed importance on the overall welfare of people. Therefore, he linked the philosophy with efforts to ensure that development reaches every section of society.
The Chief Minister also said that the state government is working towards the development of all sections while keeping these principles in mind.
Focus on the Principle of Antyodaya
Another major theme of the programme was Antyodaya. The concept focuses on the welfare and development of people at the last mile of society.
Saha said the principle continues to serve as a source of inspiration for development efforts. In particular, he stressed the importance of ensuring that welfare and development benefits reach disadvantaged communities.
Moreover, the Chief Minister connected the principle with Tripura’s broader development goals. He said collective efforts and cooperation would remain important for the state’s progress.
Officials and Public Representatives Attend
The programme brought together representatives from the government, local administration and public institutions. Mayor Dipak Majumder and MLA Meena Rani Sarkar were among the prominent attendees.
In addition, ICA Director Bimbisar Bhattacharya and other dignitaries participated in the event. Their presence highlighted the official nature of the state-level observance.
The gathering also saw participation from local representatives and members of the public. Together, they paid tribute to Upadhyaya and recalled his contribution to public life.
Tribute Also Held at Tripura BJP Headquarters
Meanwhile, the Tripura Pradesh BJP organised a separate tribute programme at its state headquarters in Agartala.
Party leaders, office bearers, corporators and workers gathered to pay floral tribute to Upadhyaya. State BJP Vice-President Ratan Ghosh, General Secretary Chandan Debnath, Deputy Mayor Manika Das Dutta and Sadar District BJP President Asim Bhattacharjee were among those present.
Speakers at the party event discussed Upadhyaya’s philosophy of Integral Humanism and the principle of Antyodaya. They also recalled his emphasis on social welfare and service.
Upadhyaya’s Ideas Remain a Focus
The birth anniversary programmes placed particular emphasis on Upadhyaya’s ideas about society and development. His philosophy of Integral Humanism and the principle of Antyodaya were central to the discussions.
Furthermore, speakers highlighted the need to extend development opportunities to people who remain at the margins of society. They also recalled his simple lifestyle and contribution to public life.

During the state-level programme, Saha also spoke about Tripura’s development goals. He said the government is working towards a developed Tripura as part of the broader vision for a developed India by 2047.
