Tripura Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury has appealed to the Union Minister of Civil Aviation to establish a Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) office in Agartala. In a recent statement, Chowdhury emphasized the strategic importance of Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport and the need for enhanced security measures.

MBB Airport, located in the capital city of Agartala, has seen significant growth in passenger traffic and cargo operations in recent years. As the primary gateway to the northeastern state, the airport plays a crucial role in connecting Tripura to the rest of India and beyond. Chowdhury highlighted that the establishment of a BCAS office in Agartala would bolster the security infrastructure at the airport, ensuring the safety and well-being of passengers and staff.

Chowdhury pointed out that the current absence of a dedicated BCAS office in the state poses a challenge to maintaining the highest security standards. He noted that with increasing air traffic and the potential for future expansions, it is imperative to have a robust security framework in place. By setting up a BCAS office in Agartala, the government would be able to address security concerns more effectively and promptly.

The minister also mentioned that the presence of a BCAS office would facilitate better coordination between various security agencies operating at the airport. This would ensure seamless implementation of security protocols and enhance the overall efficiency of airport operations. Additionally, it would provide an opportunity for local security personnel to receive specialized training and develop expertise in aviation security.

Chowdhury’s appeal comes at a time when the state government is actively working towards improving the overall infrastructure and connectivity in Tripura. The minister expressed confidence that the Union Minister of Civil Aviation would consider the proposal favorably and take necessary steps to establish the BCAS office at the earliest.

The establishment of a Bureau of Civil Aviation Security office in Agartala is crucial for the future growth and development of MBB Airport. With enhanced security measures, the airport will be better equipped to handle the increasing demands of air travel and ensure the safety of all stakeholders. Chowdhury’s appeal reflects the state government’s commitment to providing a secure and efficient aviation environment for the people of Tripura.
