Tripura Police Arrest Health Centre Employee for Alleged Sexual Assault of Minor Girl

Tripura Police arrested a 36-year-old man on Friday night for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl in South Tripura district. The accused, Bikash Nama, lives in West Jolaibari under Baikhora police station.

The victim filed a complaint around 10 pm on Friday. Police acted immediately after receiving the information. Officers detained the accused within a few hours of the complaint.

Accused Works at Health Centre

Police confirmed that Bikash Nama works at the Jolaibari Social Health Centre. This detail has shocked residents in the area. Many expressed anger and concern over the involvement of a health worker.

Sources said the accused is married and has one child. Police are examining his role and background as part of the investigation.

Victim Found Two Months Pregnant

During the preliminary inquiry, investigators learned that the minor victim is two months pregnant. This discovery increased the seriousness of the case.

Medical reports and statements now form a crucial part of the investigation. Police are coordinating with health officials to collect supporting evidence.

Case Registered Under BNS and POCSO Act

Officer-in-Charge Bishnu Das confirmed that police registered the case as Case No. 1. Authorities booked the accused under Sections 65(1) and 351(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police also applied strict provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

“These sections carry severe punishment,” OC Das said. He added that officers are questioning the accused in detail.

Court Production and Ongoing Probe

Police will produce Bikash Nama before the Belonia District and Sessions Court on Saturday. Investigators plan to seek appropriate custody for further questioning.

The police team continues to gather evidence. Officers are recording statements and reviewing medical findings. Authorities aim to build a strong case.

The incident has triggered strong reactions across South Tripura. Local residents and child rights activists have demanded strict punishment. Many have also called for stronger safety measures to protect minors.
