Coordinated Raids Strengthen Drug-Free Tripura Campaign
Tripura Police achieved a major success in their ongoing anti-narcotics drive within just 24 hours. Coordinated raids across three districts led to the seizure of drugs worth nearly ₹5.5 crore. The operations reinforced the state government’s mission to build a drug-free Tripura.
Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Randhir Debbarma confirmed the seizures on Sunday. He said police teams acted on specific intelligence and targeted known drug routes and handlers.
Kumarghat Operation Leads to Major Yaba Seizure
In Unakoti district, a special team from Kumarghat Police Station conducted a focused raid. The team recovered 2.82 kilograms of Yaba tablets. Officials estimated the market value at around ₹1.5 crore.
Police arrested one person during the operation. Investigators are now questioning the accused to trace the supply chain. Officers suspect cross-border links and are examining possible interstate connections.

Dharmanagar Police Intercept High-Value Consignment
North Tripura recorded one of the biggest seizures during the drive. Dharmanagar Police intercepted a large consignment containing 44,000 Yaba tablets. The seized drugs are worth approximately ₹2.5 crore.
Police arrested three individuals in connection with the case. Officers believe the accused played an active role in transporting and distributing the narcotics. Authorities have intensified checks along major transit routes following the seizure.
Back-to-Back Raids in Dhalai District
Dhalai district witnessed two successful raids by Ambassa Police. In the first operation, officers recovered 69 grams of brown sugar. In the second raid, the team seized 20,000 Yaba tablets.
The combined value of the recovered narcotics stands close to ₹1.5 crore. Police arrested six suspects during the operations. According to officials, the arrests disrupted local drug supply networks that targeted vulnerable youth.
Cases Registered Under NDPS Act
AIGP Randhir Debbarma said police registered all cases under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. He stressed that Tripura Police follow a zero-tolerance policy against drugs.
He added that intelligence-based policing and inter-district coordination played a key role in the success. Police teams will continue similar operations in the coming days.
Police Urge Public Cooperation
The Tripura government has identified drug abuse as a serious social threat. Authorities have directed law enforcement agencies to remain alert and proactive. Police also urged citizens to share credible information related to drug activities.
Officials assured strict confidentiality for informers. They reiterated that public support remains vital to defeating the drug menace.
With repeated high-value seizures and multiple arrests, Tripura Police sent a strong warning to drug traffickers. The campaign for a drug-free Tripura will continue with increased intensity.
