Tripura : Two Detained with 16 kg Ganja at Agartala Railway Station

In a major success against illegal drug trafficking, security personnel at Agartala Railway Station detained two individuals found in possession of a large quantity of dry ganja. During a routine inspection conducted on Thursday, officials recovered approximately 16 kilograms of ganja from the suspects.

According to sources, the railway security and local police jointly carried out the inspection as part of their regular surveillance to curb the smuggling of contraband substances through rail routes. The two accused were intercepted after their suspicious behavior caught the attention of the authorities. Upon checking their belongings, a total of 16 kg of dry ganja was seized.

The detained individuals have been taken into custody, and a specific case has been registered against them under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The police have initiated further investigation to trace the source and destination of the contraband and to identify any possible network involved in the illegal trade.

Authorities have intensified checks at railway stations and transport hubs across Tripura to combat the rising cases of drug smuggling.
