Police Launch Anti-Narcotics Operation

Bazaricherra Police arrested a 33-year-old man from Tripura during a planned anti-narcotics operation in the Marugaon area under the Kathaltali outpost.

According to police, officers received specific information on Friday that a man was carrying narcotic substances in the area. Therefore, a joint team from Bazaricherra Police Station and Kathaltali Outpost immediately launched an operation.

The team, led by Patharkandi Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Anirban Sharma, reached the location and laid a trap to intercept the suspect.

Officers Recover Suspected Heroin

During the operation, police caught the accused, identified as Sukanta Nath, allegedly injecting suspected heroin into his body.

Meanwhile, Officer-in-Charge Khanindra Nath said officers searched the accused and recovered 20 grams of suspected heroin packed in 40 small containers.

In addition, the police team seized two empty containers and a syringe from his possession. Officers collected the seized items as evidence and sent them for further legal procedures.

Court Remands Accused to Judicial Custody

Police took the accused, a resident of Kanchanpur in Tripura, to the police station for questioning.

Later, investigators registered a case under the NDPS Act. They then produced the accused before the District Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court on Saturday.

Subsequently, the court remanded him to judicial custody. Police will continue legal proceedings as the investigation progresses.
