Kota, May 22, 2024 — In a ground-breaking initiative to mark National Public Library Day, the Government Divisional Public Library Kota has unveiled a new service dedicated to temporarily disabled individuals. This service, the first of its kind in Rajasthan, aims to deliver books right to the doorsteps of those recovering from illnesses, accidental fractures, and similar conditions.
Dr. Deepak Kumar Shrivastava, the Divisional Librarian, announced the service, emphasizing its mission to provide bibliotherapy—a therapeutic use of books—to alleviate stress and promote healing during recovery periods. “Our goal is to ensure that no one is deprived of the joy and comfort that reading can bring, especially when they are going through a difficult time,” he stated.
Volunteers like Bigul Jain Retd. Deputy Chief Engineer thermal Project, Mr. Narendra Kumar Sharma Public Library Activist have eagerly stepped forward to support this noble cause, ensuring that temporary disabled readers receive their books promptly and with care. “It’s heartening to see our community come together to support each other in times of need,” Sharma expressed.
This innovative service is inspired by the successful model of the TS State Central Library in Chandigarh, promising to bring a similar positive impact to the people of Kota. By extending library services to the homes of those in need, the initiative not only promotes literacy but also fosters a sense of community and support.
As the first service of its kind in Rajasthan, the Kota Public Library’s new initiative is set to become a beacon of hope and a testament to the power of community-driven support in times of adversity.
