Udaipur’s historic Mata Tripureshwari Temple is resplendent with lights and decorations as it prepares for the grand three-day Deepavali festival and special puja of the Mother Goddess, beginning today. The event marks one of the most significant annual celebrations at the temple, drawing thousands of devotees and tourists from across Tripura and beyond.
The three-day fair and festivities will officially start this afternoon and continue until October 22 (Wednesday). Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha will inaugurate the celebration around 3:00 PM, joined by Finance Minister Pranjit Singharoy, MLA Abhishek Debroy, and other dignitaries, including senior officials.
Both Singharoy and Debroy, who hail from Udaipur, represent R.K. Pur and Matabari constituencies in the state assembly. Their presence adds a local touch of pride to this year’s festivities.
Preparations Near Completion
According to temple sources, preparations for the Puja and festival are nearly complete, with only final touches underway. The rituals will begin as per the Tithi (auspicious time) mentioned in the almanac. Devotees can look forward to vibrant fireworks and dazzling illumination around the temple premises.
Before the puja begins, the fairground will come alive this afternoon with cultural programs, traditional performances, and stalls showcasing local crafts and delicacies. The annual fair is one of Udaipur’s most anticipated events, blending spirituality, tradition, and community celebration.

Stringent Security Measures in Place
To ensure safety during the massive gathering, authorities have implemented a multi-layered security plan. The Tripura Police and Tripura State Rifles (TSR) have been deployed in and around the temple complex.
Multiple help desks, fire brigade units, and ambulances have been stationed near Kalyan Sagar Lake and the temple grounds to handle emergencies. Additionally, the entire fair area is under CCTV surveillance to monitor crowd movement and prevent untoward incidents.
District Administration on High Alert
South Tripura SP Kiran Kumar K. and his team are closely monitoring the arrangements. Officers are supervising the deployed security personnel to ensure round-the-clock vigilance. The police have also instructed fair organizers to follow all safety protocols, including crowd management and traffic regulation near the temple area.
A senior police official stated that the administration aims to provide a safe and peaceful environment for every devotee. With thousands expected to visit over the next three days, maintaining order and preventing congestion remain top priorities.

The Tripureshwari Deepavali Festival is more than just a religious observance—it is a celebration of Tripura’s cultural identity. Every year, the event showcases traditional music, dance, and rituals, attracting visitors eager to witness the vibrant spirit of Udaipur.
Locals and shopkeepers have decorated the streets with colorful lights and banners, creating a festive atmosphere across the town. Many devotees have already arrived to seek blessings from the presiding deity, Mata Tripureshwari, revered as one of the 51 Shakti Peethas in Hindu mythology.
As the evening sets in, the temple complex is expected to glow in a mesmerizing display of lights, symbolizing the triumph of light over darkness—an essence that perfectly embodies the spirit of Deepavali.
