In today’s intricate geopolitical landscape, characterized by unrest, warfare, and terrorism that threaten global peace and stability, it is imperative to promote the ideals of peace and sustainable diplomacy within the international community.
Dr. Dinesh Sabnis, who has dedicated 14 years to the Government of India as a former officer, has also engaged in philanthropic efforts with notable roles at the United Nations Offices in Geneva and Vienna for the IGO-WFDP and INGO-Lazarus Union, respectively. In recent years, he has made significant strides in reaching out to international communities and youth across various nations, advocating for themes related to peace, diplomacy, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through his messages, videos, and speeches.
Dr. Sabnis has organized numerous events, both online and offline, enabling students from India and other countries to engage on platforms discussing critical issues such as human rights, peace, literacy, non-violence, and relations with the United Nations. He has consistently worked to connect with various permanent missions at the United Nations to facilitate mentorship opportunities, allowing students to gain in-depth knowledge from experienced career diplomats on subjects pertaining to diplomacy, international relations, and peace initiatives. Additionally, Dr. Dinesh Sabnis has initiated tours, visits, and exchange programs focused on international relations and cultural diplomacy.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions to peace initiatives and diplomacy, the European Council for Research & Development, which is endorsed by MSME, Niti Aayog of the Government of India, and the United Kingdom Global Accreditation, awarded Dr. Dinesh Sabnis the “Rabindranath Tagore – Global Peace Award” in the category of Peace Advocacy on December 16, 2024.
Dr. Sabnis has consistently held a firm belief in the words of Albert Einstein: “Peace cannot be kept by force; it can only be achieved by understanding.” He emphasized that in the contemporary world, it is essential to instill peace education and values in the minds of the younger generation, as this could lead to a positive advancement in both development and peace on a global scale.
