A devastating landslide claimed the lives of seven individuals in Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday. The landslide occurred on the road stretch between Bana and Seppa in East Kameng district, sweeping a Brezza car into a deep gorge.
According to eyewitness reports, the car was carrying two families—Sankar Aka’s family and the wife and child of Sichi Yame. Family members have confirmed the identities of the deceased.
The force of the landslide left the vehicle completely mangled after it plunged into the gorge. Rescue operations were launched immediately, but unfortunately, all seven occupants of the car were declared dead at the scene.
In a narrow escape, a Sumo vehicle was also caught in the landslide zone but got stuck near the edge of the road. Fortunately, no casualties were reported from the Sumo.
Authorities have urged travelers to avoid the Bana–Seppa route due to the risk of further landslides caused by continuous rainfall in the region. Search and rescue teams, along with local administration, are working to clear the debris and ensure road safety.
This tragedy highlights the urgent need for improved infrastructure and early warning systems in landslide-prone regions of Arunachal Pradesh, especially during the monsoon season.
