Seven Rohingyas, including three women, were arrested in Tripura after illegally entering India from Bangladesh. The police gave this information on Friday. Police said seven Rohingyas who fled their camps in Bangladesh recently entered Tripura through the Sonmura border and tried to travel to Assam in a car.
“During routine investigation, police arrested him from Ambasa in Dhalai district on Thursday night and produced him in a local court on Friday,” a police official said. Rohingyas are often detained in various northeastern states as they flee their camps, sometimes in Jammu in India and sometimes in Bangladesh. They are moving around in different Indian states, mostly in search of jobs. Since 2016, more than 860,000 Rohingya have fled Myanmar to escape violence and have taken refuge in Cox’s Bazar in southeast Bangladesh.
