In a significant announcement, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh declared on Sunday that the state government is earmarking Rs 3 crore for the construction of a dedicated memorial for the Indian Army. The announcement was made during a function commemorating the 8th Armed Forces Veterans Day in Imphal.
Singh, a former Border Security Forces player in Jalandhar, emphasized the government’s commitment to finding a suitable location within Manipur for the memorial’s construction. The initiative aims to pay homage to the selfless service and sacrifice of Indian Army personnel who have diligently safeguarded the nation.
Assuring the timely completion of the memorial, Singh mentioned that it will be ready for the upcoming Armed Forces Veterans Day next year. As a part of the ceremony, the Chief Minister extended felicitations to distinguished veterans and Veer Naris, widows of fallen soldiers, expressing gratitude for their invaluable contributions to the country.
To further mark the occasion, Singh hosted an “At Home Reception of Veterans and Veer Naris” on the eve of the day at the Chief Minister’s Lawn.
