In a tragic incident at the National Institute of Technology (NIT)-Agartala, a bus carrying students and teachers plunged into a pond in the Ranirbazaar area of West Tripura. The accident occurred during the early hours of Wednesday (January 17) due to dense fog, resulting in injuries to several passengers.

Immediate Response and Rescue Operation:

Local authorities, including firefighters, promptly responded to the accident. The rescue operation was initiated swiftly to ensure the safety of the injured. The victims, including students, teachers, and the bus driver, were found in critical condition, covered in blood. Urgent medical attention was deemed necessary, leading to their immediate referral to GB Hospital in Agartala city.

Tripura Chief Minister, Dr. Manik Saha, expressed his sympathies on social media and wished a speedy recovery for the injured students, teachers, and other staff members. He stated, “This is a tragic incident, and my thoughts are with all those affected by the NIT bus accident in Ranirbazar Chowk Basta area.” Dr. Saha extended heartfelt wishes for the swift recovery of the injured and issued instructions to the local administration to provide all necessary assistance and support to the victims and their families.
