There is a new addition to the assembly polls access to Vote-from-home. The Chief Electoral officer of the state said that the vote-from-home prospect will only be eligible for senior citizens of the state. It is available for people who are above 80 years of age. This new access option for voting from home came up when the dates for assembly elections were out on Wednesday.
Also, along with senior citizens, some specially-abled people will be eligible for this access. A number of Central Armed Paramilitary Forces (CAPFs) have already arrived in the state for safety purposes. Some other things, like night patrolling, are also going on as pre-election preparations. The police are ensuring that there is no smuggling of drugs, cash, weapons, etc for the upcoming elections.
Chief Minister Manik Saha said, “Our party is always for the people irrespective of elections. We are fully prepared for the upcoming polls. We are confident of winning more Assembly seats than before.” The elections are about to begin on February 16, and counting of the vote are scheduled on March 2.
