The railway authority is constructing a new three-storey station building as part of the first phase. The project carries an estimated cost of ₹48 crore and targets completion by March 2027.

Additionally, NFR plans to add modern waiting halls, upgraded passenger facilities, improved circulation areas, and additional platforms. Consequently, passengers will experience a more convenient and efficient railway station.

Railway Officials Add New Passenger Facilities

Railway officials inaugurated new lifts on Platforms 1 and 2 during the visit. These lifts will help elderly passengers, differently-abled travellers, and people with medical conditions access platforms more easily.

Furthermore, the General Manager inspected waiting rooms, restrooms, ticket counters, Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs), security scanning facilities, and retiring rooms. He directed officials to continue improving passenger services across the station.

Modernization Work Continues Across Tripura

Meanwhile, NFR continues modernization work at Udaipur and Kumarghat railway stations. Officials expect both projects to reach completion by September 2026.

In addition, Srivastava reviewed the construction of the IOCL oil depot at Sekerkote Railway Station and inspected the Nischintapur Railway Yard. Railway authorities reported steady progress at both locations.

Officials also confirmed that freight trains continue operating regularly from Nischintapur Railway Station, supporting commercial transportation in the state.

Infrastructure Projects Near Completion

Railways, Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), and the State Public Works Department are jointly executing infrastructure work at Sekerkote Railway Station.

According to railway officials, the agencies have nearly completed the project and expect to finish the remaining work by August. Therefore, the station will soon support expanded logistics and fuel transportation activities.

Railway Electrification Completed from Sabroom to Guwahati

The NFR General Manager confirmed that railway authorities have completed electrification work from Sabroom to Guwahati.

However, officials identified a minor power supply issue at New Haflong. They have already started corrective measures and expect to resolve the issue soon.

The completed electrification corridor will improve operational efficiency, reduce fuel consumption, and support environmentally sustainable railway operations throughout the Northeast.
