East Police Act on Tip-Off in West Champamura

Agartala East Police seized 500 bottles of banned Eskuf cough syrup during a raid at West Champamura and arrested two persons in connection with the illegal storage. The operation followed a specific tip-off received by the police.

Officers confirmed that the seizure forms part of a wider drive to curb the circulation of intoxicating substances in the city.

Swift Raid Leads to Major Seizure

Officer-in-Charge Subrata Debnath said the police received confidential information about a large stock of contraband hidden inside a residential house. Acting immediately, a police team conducted a search at the location.

During the raid, officers recovered 500 bottles of Eskuf cough syrup. Authorities classify the drug as a banned intoxicant due to its frequent misuse.

Two Accused Taken into Custody

Police arrested Subhash Chandra Das (47) and Samir Das (40) at the spot. Officers then brought both accused to East Police Station along with the seized bottles.

Police registered a case under relevant legal provisions and began formal investigation procedures.

Investigation Expands to Identify Supply Chain

Investigators are now probing the source of the cough syrup. They are also checking whether the accused supplied the substance to other areas.

According to police officials, the team is examining links to a possible distribution network operating in and around Agartala. Officers are questioning the accused to gather further leads.

Police Warn Against Illegal Trade

Officer-in-Charge Debnath stated that police will take strict legal action against everyone involved in the illegal trade. He added that law enforcement teams will continue targeted raids across the city.

Police also urged residents to share information about suspicious activities. Officials stressed that public cooperation helps prevent the spread of illegal drugs and intoxicants.

The seizure highlights the police department’s continued efforts to maintain law and order and protect public health in Tripura’s capital.
