Astha Samanta, a meritorious student from Agartala, has brought laurels to Tripura by securing the Gold Medal for outstanding academic performance in the BA LLB programme at National Law University, Jodhpur.

Gold Medal Presented by Chief Justice of India

Justice Surya Kant presented the prestigious medal during the university’s 18th Convocation ceremony held in Jodhpur on February 21, 2026. The event witnessed the presence of eminent members of the judiciary, including Justice Sandeep Mehta, Justice Vijay Bishnoi, and Justice SP Sharma.

The honour recognises Astha’s consistent academic excellence throughout her five-year integrated BA LLB course.

Academic Journey Marked by Excellence

Astha began her academic journey in Agartala at Auxilium Girls’ School, Agartala. She secured the 3rd rank in Tripura in the CBSE Class XII (Arts) examination in 2020, establishing herself as one of the state’s top-performing students.

Later, she qualified the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) with distinction and earned admission to NLU Jodhpur, one of India’s premier law institutions. During her time at the university, she maintained an outstanding academic record, culminating in her receiving the Gold Medal at convocation.

Proud Moment for Tripura

Astha is the daughter of Shri Pinaki Samanta, IPS, who is currently posted in Manipur. Her achievement has drawn praise from well-wishers in Tripura and beyond.

Her success not only highlights individual dedication and perseverance but also reflects the growing academic aspirations of students from the Northeast.
