APPSC Paper Leak Case Reaches CBI, Case Registered Against Commission Officials

The much talked about Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) paper leak case has now reached the CBI. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) informed that the agency, on the request of the Arunachal Pradesh government, has filed a complaint against a person and unknown officials of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) for the alleged leak of the exam question paper conducted for the post of Assistant Engineer (Civil). A case has been registered in a related matter.

With the recent arrest in connection with the alleged leak of a question paper for the Assistant Engineer (Civil) main exam conducted by APPSC in August, more than six people have been arrested so far. Besides Jerang, four others were arrested earlier, including Akhilesh Yadav, a teacher at a coaching institute, Thomas Gaduk, a candidate, his father Tanyang Gaduk, chief assistant in the office of the deputy director of school education in Siang district and middleman Tama Saroh. Were.

Police said that preliminary investigation revealed that the candidate’s father had approached the middleman for the purchase of question paper for the main examination for his son in 2021. He said that the middleman had bribed the Deputy Controller of Examinations and the question papers were illegally procured and given to the candidate before the examination. During scrutiny it was found that the sealed question paper was copied by the Deputy Controller of Examinations and sent to the candidate through middlemen. After that the candidate shared with the teacher for the answers of the question paper received. The teacher had posed the question to another student as well.

The same student had lodged a written complaint with the police about alleged question paper leak on August 29, two days after the examination. On receipt of the complaint, a preliminary inquiry was conducted and the report was submitted to the SP office on September 10. Later a case was registered. During investigation it was found that the middleman was paid Rs 43 lakh in cash by the father of the candidate in 2021 for the purchase of question paper of the main examination. The middleman had given Rs 15 lakh to the Deputy Controller of Examinations and kept the rest with himself. The SP said that both had invested money in the property.
