APSC Chairman Reviews Prelims Exam Readiness in Barpeta

To ensure the smooth and transparent conduct of the upcoming Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) Preliminary Examination. APSC Chairman Deboraj Upadhyay, IPS (Retd), visited Barpeta district on June 3, 2025, to oversee the arrangements. The visit reflects the Commission’s commitment to maintaining the integrity. And also, efficiency of one of Assam’s most important competitive examinations.

Focus on Fairness and Security

During the high-level review, Upadhyay interacted with senior district officials, law enforcement personnel, and examination administrators. He emphasized the importance of strict compliance with exam protocols. For ensuring a fair and leakage-free examination process.

Barpeta is one of the key examination centers for the APSC Prelims exam, and over 6,000 candidates are expected to appear from the district alone. The Chairman examined the logistical aspects including seating plans, CCTV surveillance, security deployment, and power backup at examination centers.

“Our priority is to uphold the credibility of the examination system. Every candidate deserves a fair and stress-free environment,” said Upadhyay during the review meeting.

Detailed Preparations Underway

The Barpeta District Administration has set up a control room to monitor the entire exam process in real time. Further, officials confirmed that all examination centers would be equipped with biometric attendance systems. Furthermore, frisking arrangements to prevent any form of malpractice.

Mock drills and inspection visits have been conducted in advance to ensure that center staff are trained and infrastructure is exam-ready. Adequate police personnel will be deployed at each venue to ensure peaceful conduct, while mobile magistrates will oversee smooth operations.

APSC’s Push for Transparent Recruitment

The APSC Preliminary Examination is the first phase of recruitment for various Group A and Group B services in the Assam Civil Services and allied departments. With lakhs of aspirants across the state, the examination plays a critical role in shaping Assam’s future administrative framework.

The APSC under Chairman Deboraj Upadhyay has been working towards greater transparency and digital transformation in recruitment processes. This includes the introduction of online applications, stricter security protocols, and real-time data monitoring through centralized dashboards.

Exam Date and Instructions

The APSC Prelims 2025 is scheduled for June 16. And, candidates have already received their admit cards through the official portal. Examinees have been advised to report at least one hour before the scheduled start time. Also, to bring original photo ID proof along with their admit cards.

Strict instructions have been issued regarding banned items such as mobile phones, smartwatches, calculators, and notes. Thereafter, any candidate found violating the guidelines will face disqualification.

Barpeta Deputy Commissioner, during the meeting, assured the Chairman of complete readiness. He thanked the APSC for maintaining direct communication and for prioritizing administrative coordination.
