Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Friday inaugurated a modern residential complex for government employees in Itanagar. The initiative aims to address the long-standing housing shortage among staff posted in the state capital and improve overall administrative efficiency.
Located near the state secretariat, the housing project consists of multiple apartment blocks with modern amenities. It’s designed to accommodate Class I and Class II officers working across various government departments.
The inauguration ceremony witnessed participation from senior bureaucrats, public works officials, and several government employees.

While unveiling the new quarters, CM Khandu emphasized the importance of quality accommodation for employees. He pointed out that a secure and comfortable living environment plays a crucial role in enhancing work productivity.
“We are committed to creating a more functional government setup by investing in core infrastructure,” Khandu said. “This complex is part of our larger plan to modernize administrative support systems.”

CM Khandu noted that future projects would also include quarters for mid-level and lower-level staff to ensure housing access for all categories of government employees.

This housing complex is just one element of a broader initiative to improve urban infrastructure in Itanagar. The Urban Development and PWD departments are currently working on several complementary projects.
These include improving road connectivity around administrative zones, upgrading drainage systems, and setting up integrated utility corridors.

“Transparency is key,” Khandu stated. “We want all allocations to be merit-based and clearly communicated to the public.”
