New Delhi: Union Power and New & Renewable Energy Minister, R.K. Singh, recently chaired a high-level meeting in New Delhi to evaluate the progress of the Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project (SLHEP) in Arunachal Pradesh. The meeting aimed to review the advancements made in the project and address any challenges hindering its completion.
The Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project, a joint venture between the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) and the Assam government, holds significant importance in meeting the region’s growing energy demands while promoting clean and renewable sources of power generation. With an estimated capacity of 2,000 megawatts (MW), the project is expected to contribute approximately 7,000 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of electricity annually once operational.
During the meeting, Minister R.K. Singh emphasized the need to expedite the project’s execution while ensuring adherence to environmental norms and addressing concerns raised by local communities.
