The Assam CM IIM campus meeting with Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan marked a major step forward for higher education in the state. Currently, IIM Shillong operates a temporary campus in Guwahati for students from Assam and other Northeastern states. The new campus will increase student intake, enable better faculty recruitment, and boost research activities.
The Chief Minister said, “We are committed to making Assam a centre for quality education. The IIM campus will support our youth and attract talent from across India.”
Assam CM Seeks Timely Completion of Campus Infrastructure
Himanta Biswa Sarma urged the Education Minister to ensure the campus infrastructure is completed on time. He mentioned that the Assam government has provided all necessary administrative and logistical support.
The meeting also covered pending approvals related to land use, environmental clearances, and utility connections. The Chief Minister promised to fast-track any state-level procedures that might delay the project.
Minister Dharmendra Pradhan assured Sarma of full Ministry support and promised the project would stay on schedule.
