Kati Bihu is being celebrated in Assam today. It is also called Kongali Bihu. Harvesting begins on this day and paddy is sown again. On this occasion people light up outside their homes and pray for a good harvest. People also plant Tulsi plant outside their homes and perform Lakshmi Puja.
Governor Jagdish Mukhi, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and other senior leaders have greeted the people of Assam on Kati Bihu.
