In a first-of-its-kind initiative in Tripura, Sushanta Deb, the MLA of Bishalgarh, publicly presented a detailed three-year development report outlining key projects and initiatives implemented in the constituency.
The report card was unveiled during a public programme at Jangaliya Ground in Bishalgarh. During the event, Deb highlighted various achievements in infrastructure, healthcare, tourism, and social development since 2023.
However, some observers noted that the report did not address concerns raised by residents about drug trafficking and alleged gangster activities in certain parts of the constituency.

Development Progress Highlighted
While addressing the gathering, Deb stated that the progress in Bishalgarh was made possible through coordinated efforts between the state and central governments. He also credited Manik Saha for extending continuous support for development initiatives in the constituency.
In addition, the MLA acknowledged the contributions of local representatives, administrative officials, and party workers for helping accelerate development work across the region.
According to the report, several infrastructure projects were launched to improve connectivity and civic facilities in Bishalgarh and nearby areas.
Infrastructure and Urban Development Projects
Deb highlighted multiple road projects aimed at strengthening connectivity between Bishalgarh and neighbouring regions such as Golaghati, Boxanagar, and Lakshmibil.
These road upgrades have significantly improved transportation and daily commuting for residents.
Urban development projects were also included in the report. These works involve the construction of modern drainage systems, CC roads, and public toilets. Authorities also carried out beautification work in the Bishalgarh motor stand area to improve civic infrastructure and urban management.
Artificial Limb Manufacturing Unit
Among the major projects mentioned in the report is the establishment of Asia’s second artificial limb manufacturing unit at Lakshmibil.
According to Deb, the facility will provide assistance to differently-abled persons while also generating employment opportunities for local residents. The initiative is expected to strengthen social welfare and rehabilitation services in the region.
Sports and Tourism Initiatives
The MLA also outlined projects aimed at improving sports infrastructure and promoting tourism in the constituency.
Key initiatives include the development of an indoor sports complex and a swimming pool for local youth. These facilities aim to encourage participation in sports and physical activities.
In addition, the report highlighted the construction of a grand temple dedicated to Dakshineswari Maa. The project is expected to attract visitors and boost religious tourism in the area.
Deb stated that such initiatives could help strengthen the local economy by promoting tourism and cultural activities.
Expansion of Healthcare Facilities
Healthcare development was another major focus of the report. Deb announced plans to construct a new 50-bed block at the Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Hospital.
The expansion aims to improve medical services and increase treatment capacity for residents of Bishalgarh and nearby areas. Officials believe the project will strengthen healthcare infrastructure in the sub-division.
Community and Youth Engagement Programmes
The report also highlighted several community engagement programmes organised in the constituency.
These initiatives include sports tournaments, monthly blood donation camps, and cultural events. Among the cultural activities mentioned were celebrations of Rabindra Jayanti held in natural settings to promote cultural awareness.
Deb said such programmes aim to encourage youth participation in constructive and social activities.
Relief Efforts During Natural Disasters
The MLA also referred to relief measures undertaken during natural calamities such as floods.
According to the report, relief operations were coordinated with the support of government agencies and local authorities. Financial assistance was also provided to traders and residents affected by disasters.
Event Attended by Local Leaders
The programme was attended by several local leaders and public representatives. Among them were Anjan Purkayastha and Atasi Das.
Community representatives, party workers, and local residents also participated in the event.
Transparency Initiative Draws Attention
While presenting the report, Deb described the initiative as a step toward promoting transparency and accountability in governance.
However, some observers pointed out that the report did not mention concerns related to drug trafficking and alleged criminal gang activities in certain areas of the constituency.
Despite this criticism, the report outlined the MLA’s vision to transform Bishalgarh through infrastructure development, improved healthcare services, stronger civic amenities, and increased youth engagement in the coming years.
