Before the counting of the assembly elections, terror has once again spread in Kamalpur. Two members of a family of BJP supporters were injured in a joint attack by Left Front and Congress-sponsored miscreants in Dasmighat area of Kamalpur sub-division in Dhalai district. Police have so far arrested three people in that incident. With that, the tension reached its peak.
Incidentally, three people were injured in the misdemeanor attack challenging all the efforts of the Election Commission and Defense Administration. The incident took place at around midnight on Tuesday in Dasmighat area of Kamalpur city. In the night, the police promptly arrested three people involved in the attack. Police sent them to court on Wednesday.
It is reported that a group of 15 miscreants, supporters of Left Front and Congress, attacked the house of BJP supporter Ajay Das in Dasmighat area on Tuesday around midnight. He ransacked houses with heavy weapons. Two female members of the house Geeta Das (55) and her daughter-in-law Rinki Dev Das (28) were seriously injured when they came forward to resist the attack.
Meanwhile, hearing the screams, neighbor Jayant Mondal (30) came forward and was also injured in the vicious attack. The police along with Central Security Force personnel rushed to the news of this disturbance. From the spot, the police arrested CPM leaders Pintu Sheel and Sameeran Das, who had been hiding from the area for a long time and had returned just before the elections, at the one-time postal site. The police also arrested Subhash Das of Dasmighat area for his involvement in the attack early on Wednesday morning.
This incident has spread extreme tension throughout the city. Party supporters started gathering at the CPM office since morning. Party workers and supporters also gathered at the BJP office. However, the BJP leadership advised the workers to remain calm and restrained. Police and law enforcement have made full preparations to maintain law and order.
